ODUNDE Avenue Competition
The blockbuster second Sunday ODUNDE Avenue Competition and market fills the streets of South Philadelphia’s Graduate Hospital neighborhood with scores of distributors and a whole lot of hundreds of festivalgoers on the afternoon of Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Stretching 15 blocks from Greys Ferry Avenue & Catherine Avenue to nineteenth & South streets — centered on the intersection of twenty third and South streets — the open-air celebration is free to attend, with pay-as-you-go meals, refreshments and merch.
The day begins at midday with a colourful procession beginning at twenty third & South streets which proceeds to the Schuylkill River the place members current conventional choices of fruit and flowers to Oshun, the Yoruba goddess of the river.
The festivities proceed the remainder of the day with a packed schedule of reside music and dance performances on two designated phases (at Greys Ferry Avenue & Catherine Avenue and at twenty third & South streets) and over 100 distributors promoting handmade crafts, clothes, jewellery and extra. Past native distributors, the pageant’s African market guarantees genuine gadgets from Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil and past.
